A Match Made for Murder
by
Pamela James and Merry Stahel
Continuing with Q&A...
Pamela answers forum member, Jenny's, questions and comments:
Q. I've read interviews with authors where they state they didn't even know who the guilty person would be at the beginning of writing their book.  Did you both plot out the entire story or did you let it evolve as you went?

A.  I've always known who committed the crime and why, but sometimes my characters have thrown me a curve and I've had to rewrite a scene.  I liked this though, as it always keeps me fresh and on my toes.  For me, plotting the mystery has always started with the end of the book.  I know who is going to be murdered and why.  From there, I have to make sure the overall story fits.  It's a lot like putting a puzzle together.  You know what the picture looks like.  After that, it's the getting there one piece at a time that is hard.
